Required Summer Reading

2015 Summer Reading Assignments are in! Stock up with these great titles for the summer months ahead.

Required Reading Selections:

4/5 MAG

The required reading book for grades 4 is Shiloh, by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor.
The required reading book for grade 5 is The Mighty Miss Malone, by Christopher Paul Curtis.

The students in both grades are to read three other books of their choice. Recommendations are available on our Recommended Reading page.

For students entering the 5th grade, please submit a book analysis card for the three books of your choice.  Students should include the title, author, and setting.  The majority of the card will be an original cover illustration for the book.  Students should not use the cover on the book for ideas, rather they should think of a scene they liked from the story to use instead.  The book cards should be mailed to Mr. Borden at MHS.  Mr. Borden will check his mailbox periodically.

Grades 6-9

Students in grades 6-9 should read the three required titles in addition to two free choices. (Recommendations are available on our Recommended Reading page.) A report should be completed for each of the five books read. Please bring to school on first day.
