Grandparents and Special Friends Day

Grandparents and Special Friends Day

One of Mooreland Hill School’s greatest assets is its strong and active Parents’ Association. The Association works in concert with the Headmaster and faculty. It sponsors additional experiences for students through field trips, family events, and cultural enrichment programs.

The Association and its members are quite busy throughout the year. This spring, the Association invited an author, Fernande Davis, who spoke about the risks she took as a teenager in the Belgian Resistance of World War II . The Parents’ Association then sponsored a school-wide trip to Boston.  Outside the academic day, the Association makes time to organize family events such as a Bingo NIght, and provides food and refreshment for the athletic tournaments, The Art of Healing Mural-a-thon, and Poetry Night. Parents join the faculty for the twice-yearly campus cleanup and sponsor various other events throughout the school year. The Association also helps present a memorable graduation day for eighth and ninth graders and their families.

All parents of current students are members of the Association and are encouraged to serve as officers or committee members. Serving the Association is a wonderful opportunity to stay involved in a student’s education and to meet other parents. Above all, the Association fosters the link between the school and its families, believing that communication and cooperation are the cornerstones for a positive relationship that will benefit the students.
