The Art of Healing Mural-a-thon

In its philosophy, Mooreland Hill School is clear about the relationship between the individual student and community and its association to the student’s overall development. In part, the philosophy states:

“Central to this philosophy is the conviction that each child be helped to develop a realistic sense of worth, a respect for others, high moral character, and a strong feeling for family and community.”

“This personal approach will help assure that each student leaves Mooreland Hill with a sense of accomplishment; a pride in standards of excellence; an understanding of the responsibility of citizenship; and a confidence in his or her preparation to accept the challenges of the future.”

Students can make a difference by lending their support through work and volunteering time. Projects, often student-generated, range from raising money for causes such as “Little Hearts” that funds research for congenital heart diseases and “The March of Dimes Walk-a-thon” to creating “craft kits” for patients at Connecticut Children’s Hospital. Present projects include our annual ‘The Art of Healing” Mural-a-thon to benefit the Hospital for Special Care. Our students contribute to the Mooreland Hill community by participating in our annual fall and spring clean-up days, volunteering to act as tour guides during Open Houses, and through our daily chore program.
