Parents
Mission Statement: The Mooreland Hill School Parents’ Association (MHSPA) supports the school’s philosophy, programs, and activities for the benefit of all school students. The Association facilitates communication and parent education, and encourages and coordinates volunteerism. The association fosters a spirit of inclusion, partnership, and cooperation among the entire school community.
The MHSPA is a warm, tight-knit group of families willing to roll up their collective sleeve to continue the “CAN DO” tradition that defines our Mooreland Hill community. There are many opportunities to get involved in supporting our wonderful school. There is always room for you. From grilling hot dogs and hamburgers during athletic tournaments, to wrapping gift baskets for our Silent Auction, to coordinating a community service effort, we rely heavily on our family volunteers to do the work necessary to support our children and our school.
Our Parents’ Association has worked together to raise the funds necessary to provide cultural enrichment opportunities to our children. In the past, our students have enjoyed productions at the Goodspeed Opera House, viewed exhibits at the Wadsworth Atheneum and the New Britain Museum of American Art, and have travelled out-of-state for enrichment experiences.
The MHSPA also sponsors events that help strengthen both the Mooreland community and the local community. Our parents are always available to lend a hand at school events like Bingo Night, the Mural-a-thon, Athletic tournaments, and Poetry Night. The PA has also planned and chaperoned school-wide sleepovers in the gym and visits to the Haunted Graveyard during the fall at a local amusement park.
While supporting the Mooreland community remains our primary goal, we also appreciate the importance of supporting the local community as well. Currently, plans are being made to visit local senior centers so that our children have the opportunity to connect with our wisest citizens. Additionally, we are working on developing activities that support our troops, local families in need and area food pantries.
The MHSPA has a tremendous impact on our community. There is a lot of energy surrounding the Parents’ Association, and we invite you to share in the excitement. Returning families are familiar with how close and supportive our community is and new families quickly become part of the Mooreland family.
