Mooreland Hill School Planned Giving Opportunities

Following the successful capital campaign launched in the fall of 2008, our next imperative is to seek additional ways to provide financial flexibility for Mooreland Hill School (MHS). One avenue is to build the MHS endowment which will give stability and continuity to the school. The established method for building a growing endowment is the provision for funds through planned giving opportunities. We offer the following opportunities to our Mooreland community:

  • A bequest through your will or trust.
  • By making MHS the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
  • By making MHS the beneficiary of an IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or bank account.
  • By making MHS the beneficiary of a Charitable Remainder or Lead Trust
  • By establishing a charitable gift annuity for MHS.

We encourage all in the MHS family, including alumni, parents, grandparents and friends of Mooreland to consider making a  planned gift. The school is fortunate to have many financial professionals available to assist donors looking to discuss how to make MHS a part of their estate plans.

For further details on how your planned gift can be structured please call Headmaster Michael D.Dooman at 860-223-6428 or via email at mdooman@mooreland.org.

Endowment funds are lifelines for independent schools, colleges and universities and, like all of these institutions, Mooreland Hill relies on endowment income for budget, scholarship and programming support.

The Mooreland Hill School endowment fund takes two forms – unrestricted and restricted. The unrestricted general endowment is comprised of endowment gifts given to the school with no restrictions. These funds not only generate income but may also, by Board of Trustees designation, be used for capital purposes such as new campus construction, renovation projects or fiscal emergencies. Restricted funds consist of gifts given or left to the school for purposes of generating income for the school in perpetuity, usually in honor of or in memory of an individual or family.

Mooreland’s growing list of endowment funds includes the following:
A.W. Stanley – Scholarship
Philip Thomas – General Support
Margaret Hart Young – Scholarship
Rowland Family – Professional Development
Nancy F. Judd – Scholarship
James V. Parsons – Scholarship
