Mooreland Hill 2009 Graduation

TEN STUDENTS GRADUATE FROM MOORELAND HILL SCHOOL

Ten Mooreland Hill School students received diplomas in ceremonies at the Kensington School’s 76th commencement. 

Grade Nine: Joseph Cocivera III, Charles Lantz, Marisa Martin and Steven Turner, Jr., Grade Eight: Brendan Conry, Jr., Andrew Freeman, India Gates, Zachery Hedberg, Michael Samulenas and Tate Steinberg.

Students were presented by Headmaster Michael D. Dooman ‘78 and the faculty.  Mrs. Gail Byeff, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, awarded the diplomas.

Receiving individual discipline awards were: Art – India Gates, English – Andrew Freeman, French – India Gates, History – Michael Samulenas, Humanities – Steven Turner, Jr., Latin – Steven Turner, Jr., 8th Grade Mathematics – Andrew Freeman, 9th Grade Mathematics – Steven Turner, Jr., Music – Tate Steinberg, Science – Michael Samulenas, Physics – Charles Lantz, Spanish – Michael Samulenas.

Citizenship Award

The Citizenship Award, given annually by the Board of Trustees, was presented to Steven Turner, Jr. in recognition of his achievements in academics, athletics, extracurricular activities and service to the school.

Class of ‘82 Spirit Award

The Class of 1982 Spirit Award was presented to India Gates.

Outstanding Athletes of the Year

 Recognized as outstanding athletes for the year were India Gates and Steven Turner, Jr.

Headmaster’s Book Prizes

Headmaster’s graduation book prizes were presented to Grade Nine:  Joseph Cocivera III, Charles Lantz, Marisa Martin and Steven Turner, Jr., Grade Eight: Brendan Conry, Jr., Andrew Freeman, India Gates, Zachery Hedberg, Michael Samulenas and Tate Steinberg.

Young Scholarships

The Margaret Hart Young Scholarship was presented on behalf of the Young Family for effort, growth, character and achievement by Headmaster, Michael D. Dooman ‘78 to Matthew Harackiewicz and Dylan Laviana.

Highest Academic Average

Ninth Grade:               Steven Turner, Jr.

Eighth Grade:             Michael Samulenas

Seventh Grade:           Steven Burns and Matthew Harackiewicz

Sixth Grade:                Anna Kamradt
